Amnesia: The Dark Descent is regarded by many as one of the scariest games of all time. Now it has monster battling. Some of the monsters are furniture.
Amnesia's Monster mod is the most beautiful sort of absurdity. It's a Pokémon-inspired custom story where instead of creeping through a haunted castle from hell, you explore and participate in turn-based battles largely involving... furniture. Yes, despite the fact that Amnesia is a game full of monsters, the Monsters mod is about furniture and other objects.
"Cabinet used wine splat against couch. It's super effective!" That is an actual thing that can happen in this mod, and IT MAKES TOTAL SENSE IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT. Sorry, consistent internal logic gets me way too excited (and a little bit aroused), and no, I'm not ashamed to say it.
You can train your furniture, too. Humble boxes can evolve into barrels and sofas, just as nature intended. It's janky and silly, but it's also wonderful. If you don't believe me, watch this video of Andrew Steel playing the shockingly elaborate mod:
So yeah, there you go: Amnesia has a furniture-battling Pokémon mod. I don't really know what else to say aside from... yep.
